Celebrating Our Little Penguins Art Competition

On Saturday 30th August, we gathered at The Log Cabin in Eden to celebrate the creativity of our young artists and the importance of our beloved Little Penguins. The Little Penguins Art Competition brought together children from pre-school through to Year 9, parents, teachers, and the broader community – all united by a shared goal: to raise awareness that Little Penguins exist right here in Eden and to support our mission to bring them back to mainland Australia.

A Community Effort

This event would not have been possible without the generosity and support of so many people and organisations. A heartfelt thank you goes to our sponsors: One Stop Discount Shop, Sapphire Coastal Adventures, Merimbula Extra, and The Makers Room. Your support helped make this celebration of art and conservation possible.

We are also deeply grateful to our judges from the Merimbula and District Art Group and Art on Imlay’s Franisse Pederson, who generously gave their time and expertise in selecting the winners.

To the schools who participated – Eden Public School and Eden Marine High School – and to the dedicated teachers who encouraged their students to get involved, we thank you. And of course, to all the parents and children who put so much effort and heart into their entries – this event was for you, and because of you it was such a success.

Celebrating the Winners

At the awards ceremony, we were honoured to have Councillor Clair Mudaliar present the awards. Thank you, Councillor Mudaliar, for your continued support of the Little Penguins Project and this special event.

The winning artworks showcased the imagination and talent of our community’s young people, from the very youngest preschoolers through to Year 9 students. Their colourful, thoughtful, and creative pieces highlighted just how much Little Penguins mean to our community.

Thank You for Joining Us

To everyone who came along to the awards ceremony at The Log Cabin – thank you. Your presence made the celebration even more special.

Photos of the winning artworks are displayed below, celebrating the incredible creativity of our local kids and the bright future of the Little Penguins Project.

Together, through art, awareness, and community, we are building a future where Little Penguins can thrive again on mainland Australia in Eden.
